Port Cassis - Cote D'Azur

Port Cassis Market Day

Shop till you drop.

Fontaine de Vauclus FranceSomewhere in Provence every single day, there is a market . It doesn't matter what the weather, local farmers and entrepreneurs are ready to proudly present their products. You'll find, each village and market specializes in the crafts and goods of their particular area. You'll find all the linens, tourist items, antiques, furniture or clothing you could ever want and then some. Although there are lots of specialty local goods, residents arrive to buy food: vegetables, eggs and poultry, fruit, eggs. And ... my favorite, the cheeses! I have a passion for the markets but ... my French heritage, strongly pulls me to a street cafe at noon.

Our next trip will be market oriented as we shop for our new pied-de-terre. And so ... we will have much more detail on this page in late August. As you can see in the photo above, "Les Tissues du Soleil" shop in Fontaine de Vauclause offers a wide selection of lovely linens and even cloth. I found myself lost in this little shop. I told Dick I would be just a moment. He proceeded to find a parking spot and look for a cafe for a relaxing coffee ... I think he's heard me say that before. Well, he was right. I was drawn into Les Coulours de Provence (The Colors of Provence) and couldn't leave. I did find the most beautiful reversible woven table cover and some lovely kitchen towels.

The photo to the left is Market Day on Wednesday in the Port Cassis We arrived 10 minutes before noon and therefore, it's time for lunch. Noon sharp. Yes... you are right. Time for a little glass of wine as we chat over a two-hour lunch. This is life. Oh well ... tomorrow we can stop in Aix en Provence for market day.

Just to get you started, I've listed a URL for Events and one for some of the markets. We will be adding to this part of our newsletter monthly.
