Lavender scent - in the air. Early morning stroll over the river Euyges on " le Pont, a XIV Bridge. (firewoks bring this bridge alive at Easter. |

NYONS - Population 8,500. On Easter and Bastille Day, the perfect view of the sky fireworks is from le terrace, although I prefer standing on the opposite bridge to watch the fireworks like a waterfall over the Roman Bridge. Directly across the street is the tourist office and a small boules court. In June, the Aquatics park opens to invite families to swim, relax and/ or play tennis or boules. But this 8,500 person village offers so much more. You can tour the lavender or Olive mill or touch a bit of history as you stroll over the XIV century Roman Bridge. If you need more history, stroll to the top of Veille Ville to visit le cathedrale. The climb and journey through the tiny cobblestone pathways to the top make it well worth the climb when you reach the heavenly view of Nyons. Summer hosts one of the most popular markets in the region. All the action is directly outside your door. I stroll about and return with armfuls of treasures and great food...then return for more. If you are looking for the one true "pain de raisin", one morning as I did my morning stroll, I found 17 locations to make my choice. And...Fine dining, simple cafes for people watching can be yours for lunch or dinner. The climate of Nyons is a micro-climate, similar to Nice. Palm trees sway year round in this very special little village. And...at 10am, a heavenly mountain breeze "le Pontias" softly passes to lift spirits for the day. |

What guests have said about "La Liberation - "In the summer of 2006, we had over very first rentor. Here 's what she wrote to her friends about our little apartment. "I am very content here. The apartment has great ambience, is light and airy. The weather is warm, not hot and the evenings cool enough to snuggle under the doona to sleep.
As I look out my windows to the front I see green tree tops and mountains and blue sky. I am on the second floor. As I look out my windows to the back I see rooftops more trees and more mountains and yes the sky is blue that side as well.
Period style cherry wood, plush furniture, gold rimmed lamps, water lily light shades enveloped in soft hues, green, blue, terracotta paintwork give the apartment a cosy feeling of peace and security. I walk out my front door to cafes and markets and winding cobbled streets. Within 5 minutes I can be at the lavender distillerie or the ancient olive mill or the local cooperative selling all the regions specialties, the main being the olive and olive oil. I am feeling quite at home here." -MAH
"I stayed here 3 weeks with my husband, daughter and friend, we totally loved the location. There is something to do each day. We left and stayed in Seguret for 4 weeks but then returned here for our final week. It was like coming home. That's all I can say. Both places were very different and very enjoyable." -CA of NE
